Deep Construction

Key Responsibilities

· Perform skilled labour tasks related to civil construction, including trenching, grading, pipe installation, and backfilling

· Assist with installation of underground utilities (water, sewer, storm systems)

· Set up and use grade stakes, laser levels, and measuring tools

· Work alongside equipment operators during excavation and site preparation

· Install and compact gravel, asphalt, and other materials

· Perform concrete work such as forming, pouring, and finishing (curbs, sidewalks, etc.)

· Direct traffic and ensure safe work zones when required

· Load, unload, and move materials, tools, and equipment

· Conduct site clean-up and maintain a safe, organized work environment

· Identify and report hazards, ensuring compliance with safety regulations

· Follow project plans, drawings, and supervisor instructions

 

Qualifications

· High school diploma or equivalent

· Proven experience in civil or heavy construction

· Knowledge of underground utility installation and roadwork processes

· Ability to read and interpret basic construction drawings and grade plans

· Valid driver’s license (required; DZ/AZ license is an asset in Ontario)

 

Skills & Competencies

· Strong understanding of civil construction methods and materials

· Experience with hand tools, power tools, and small equipment (e.g., plate compactors, cut-off saws)

· Ability to work in trenches and around heavy machinery safely, outdoor work in all weather conditions

· Physical strength, stamina, and endurance

· Attention to detail, especially with grading and measurements, Strong safety awareness

· Teamwork and communication skills

· Physically demanding tasks, including lifting, digging, and prolonged standing

· Exposure to heavy equipment, noise, dust, and potentially hazardous conditions

· May require travel to different job sites
