Key Areas of Responsibilities and Associated Duties
• Provide court support and advocacy to clients in need.
• Provide information and refer to appropriate agencies as identified through client needs assessments and transition plans.
• Provide support visits to the client in a safe environment of their choice.
• Provide crisis counselling and intervention, involving the local authorities where possible.
• Assist clients in the development of transition plans, assisting in the establishment of goals and objectives.
• Assist clients in developing safety plans and providing referrals to assist with safe transitioning.
• Maintain accurate and confidential client records and documentation of services provided.
• Prepare reports and collect statistical data where required.
• Facilitate and coordinate enrichment and support groups and workshops.
• Provide referral to and consultation with other service providers in the community.
• Participate on community committees that seek to promote awareness and prevention homelessness.
• Promote the services of Maplegate/Larry’s Place and the transitional/ outreach program.
• Participate in public speaking engagements to promote awareness of the programs and services offered.
• Other duties as assigned.
Work Conditions
• Interaction with customers/clients, and the public at large
• Operation of desktop computer and peripherals
• Dealing with crisis/stressful situation.
• Travel required within the outreach area.
• Extended periods of sitting, and/or standing
Qualifications
• Minimum Education: Graduate of a post-graduate program in Social Sciences for equivalent from an accredited Canadian University
• Minimum Experience: 2 years of community development experience in the area of homelessness/crisis counselling
• Special Skills: Valid first aid and CPR certification clear vulnerable sector check, a valid Class G Driver’s license with vehicle and adequate insurance,
