Scope:

Under the direct supervision of the North Lodge Program Manager and overall supervision of the

Executive Director, the Cultural Activities Coordinator will be responsible for the design and delivery of cultural recreational activities. They will coordinate and assist the Traditional Knowledge Keepers with prep for ceremonies, as well as promoting a supportive, respectful team environment.

Responsibilities:

·        Coordinate Cultural Activities for adults and families in programming.

·        Work with Traditional Knowledge Keepers and Elders to learn cultural awareness and knowledge.

·        Coordinate teachings, ceremonies and other cultural events with Traditional Knowledge Keepers and Elders for adults and families in programming.

·        Prep land activities for programming and events.

·        Deliver on the land teachings and activities to adults and families in programming.

·        Support the design and delivery of programming.

·        Support the lodge with cultural ceremonies by prepping the land and coordinating elders and traditional knowledge keepers.

·        Other duties as required.

Qualifications:

·        Post-secondary graduate in Leadership/Recreational skills, Health and Fitness or similar degree in

social work or minimum three years’ experience working directly with adults and families.

·        Be aware of current social issues as they affect Indigenous adults and families such as suicide, trauma, sexual abuse and addictions.

·        Have a knowledge of Traditional Indigenous ceremonies and practices; be willing to work closely with various Traditional Knowledge Keepers.

·        Be a role model in the workplace and in the community.

·        Willing to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.

·        Have or willing to obtain First Aid/CPR, NVCI and other trainings as required.

·        Have or willing to obtain a clear Broad Sector Check.

·        Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Salary & Benefits:

·        Base Salary: $48,000 – $52,000 per year

·        Additional 4% vacation pay on top of base salary

·        3-Weeks paid vacation time and sick time

·        Full health and dental benefits

·        GRRSP Program
