Summer Student – Physician
Support – Espanola Family
Health Team

We are currently looking for a Temporary Full-
Time Summer Student to support our Physicians
at the Espanola Family Health Team. The
successful candidate will play an integral and
collaborative role within the healthcare team,
contributing to the overall patient experience.

The successful candidate will have a
demonstrated knowledge of the role of
interdisciplinary healthcare providers as part of
a collaborative team. Throughout the summer
the incumbent will work within functions such as
patient assessment, health promotion and
education (including supporting preventative
care initiatives), collaboration and
communication, documentation, immunizations
and screenings, Electronic Medical Record
(EMR) management, patient flow coordination,
problem resolution, cultural sensitivity, and
organization of the Physician Hub area.

Qualifications:
The successful candidate should possess the
following:

Secondary School Diploma
Completion of first year Undergraduate
Medical Education (UME)
Knowledge of the Ontario Healthcare
system and medical terminology
Knowledge of Ontario’s healthcare
insurance regulations, including the
Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP).

Knowledge and understanding of the
Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale Understanding and commitment
toward privacy laws and confidentiality
regulations, including PHIPA

Proficiency in utilizing scheduling
software and managing scheduling of
appointments in accordance with
various healthcare providers’ schedulesAbility to navigate computer systems
and Electronic Medical Records (EMR)Excellent communication and
interpersonal skillsAbility to meet regular attendance,
manage time, multiple tasks and
priorities, and effectively solve
problemsHigh organization skills and attention
to detailDemonstrated commitment to
continuous learning and developmentMultilingualism and competence in
cultural safety are considered assets
