Valid Ontario “G” Driver’s License, with an excellent driving record and no criminal record. Must be of 50+ and up years of age for insurance purposes. Strong communication, customer service and time management skills. Strong organizational skills. Participates as a team member and works with others to achieve program goals. Understands and uses excellent transferring techniques with clients. Experience in a community setting working with the frail elderly. Certification in CPR and First Aid, an asset. Proficiency in both official languages (English & French) and/or other language(s), an asset.

 Door-to-door pick-up and drop off of our clients. Assist clients in walking from the pick-up location to the vehicle and from the vehicle to drop off location.

§  Open the car door for clients and assist the client into the vehicle if required this includes assisting with the seatbelt.

§  Assist the client enter Day Programs, medical appointments, clinics and hospital and hand off the client to appropriate person at the destination.

§  Picking up clients from the Day Programs, medical appointments, clinics and the hospital. The driver is to enter the building and greet the client and advise the appropriate staff if required that you are picking up the client. 

§  Perform other duties like shopping and running errands for clients as required

§  Help client with their bags

§  Maintain a vigilant surveillance of the client while carrying out transportation duties

§  Helping clients during grocery shopping if required

§  Assist clients in a prompt, helpful, courteous and compassionate manner

§  Treat clients with the utmost respect and dignity

§  Always present yourself as professional, upbeat and courteous

§  Answer clients’ inquiries, if you are not able, ability to redirect to appropriate staff

§  Report any instance of mishap or accident of a client to the dispatcher or supervisor

§  Ability to maintain confidentiality

§  Precisely complete all paperwork connected with client’s transportation requirements

§  Knowledgeable of the Greater City of Sudbury

§  Driver must be punctual and time conscious

§  Maintain a clean driver’s abstract and report any changes within 24 hours

§  Maintain a clean vehicle.

§  Report any case of accident, injury or damage of vehicle to dispatcher or supervisor

§  Recognize electrical and mechanical faults and report to dispatcher or supervisor

§  Keep all records including receipts

§  Ability to multitask

§  Maintain a service log

§  Work closely with the Transportation Scheduler regarding scheduling, maintenance and clients

§  Ability to use Applications on an Android or Apple product

§  Collect Payments from clients and submit these payments to the office.

§  Ability to write a receipt for clients if required

§  Driver must be well groomed and wear clean clothing, free holes, tears or other signs of wear
