The primary objective for the Driver is to provide safe, courteous, and on schedule transportation to
our clients using company vehicle.
• Drivers provide local and long-distance drives to medical appointments, day programs, grocery
shopping, personal errands and social outings.
• Driver’s assistance to seniors includes support in and out of vehicle, assisting clients attending day
programs such as Alzheimer’s into the program, with groceries and some mobility equipment.
• The Driver is expected to work in conjunction with the Transportation Scheduler and or the
Administrator to ensure that all clients can access transportation.
• The Driver will also represent Goshenite Seniors Services by being visible throughout the
community. Clients are to be treated with respect, courtesy and graciousness at all times.
• The Driver is expected to foster the best possible relations with actual and potential clients, agency
partners and community programs.
• Drivers are expected to be helpful and assist clients with groceries or personal belongings as they
utilize the transportation program.

Qualifications

• Valid Ontario “G” Driver’s License, with an excellent driving record and no criminal record.
• Willing to obtain OPCF 6A endorsement on their auto insurance policy. The employer will pay cost
of the endorsement. This endorsement is also known as the Permission to Carry Passengers for
Compensation Endorsement. This endorsement allows the insured vehicle to be used for carrying
passengers for compensation. The Driver will use personal vehicle with mileage reimbursement.
• Strong communication, customer service and time management skills.
• Flexible availability throughout the week.
• Understands and uses excellent transferring techniques with clients.
• Experience in a community setting working with the frail elderly.
• Certification in CPR and First Aid
• Drivers must be able to lift at least 30 pounds and be able to push or support up to 185 pounds.
• Proficiency in both official languages (English & French) and/or other language(s), an asset
