
Kenjgewin Teg
Position Objective:
This leadership and supervisory position will build and lead Kenjgewin Teg’s Indigenous
(Anishinabek) research profile in Indigenous higher education. This position requires a
spiritual and Anishinaabemowin-connected understanding of both Indigenous research
theory and praxis in the application and assertion of First Nations control of First
Nations post-secondary education. This position will build an Anishinabek theoretical
and research action plan guided by Kenjgewin Teg’s three philosophies of Anishinaabeaadiziwn, Anishinaabemowin, and being a Trauma-informed and Trauma-sensitive place
of learning.
Qualifications:
• A minimum of doctoral program candidacy (ABD), with personal research proposal interest in
Indigenous-related topics and solutions; early-career researchers are
encouraged to apply.
• One to three years of related research experience or equivalent project management experience.
• Five years+ experience working with Indigenous communities or Indigenous organizations.
• Minimum of three years of leadership and supervisory experience managing research projects or other teams, or equivalent.
Job Knowledge and Skills:
• Indigenous perspectives and understanding of Indigenous research methodologies.
• Strategic research vision: a forward thinking mindset to align research goals with organizational objectives.
• Communication: excellent communication skills to collaborate with team members, stakeholders and external partners.
• Self-initiative and direction: leadership, vision and new program/ services development.
• Analytical thinking: ability to analyze complex data, interpret results and make informed decisions.
• Writing skills: strong writing abilities for academic papers, reports and
grant proposals.
• Presentation skills: effective communication when presenting research findings at conferences or
seminars.
• Experience in research and scholarly writing.
• Proposal writing experience and success.
• Able to meet deadlines established in a multi-tasking environment.

required, possess a valid Ontario driver’s licence and have access to a reliable vehicle.
