ROLE OVERVIEW
The Waawaaskonenh Foundation is an Indigenous-led registered charitable organization that funds programs and services to support the revitalization of the languages, arts, and cultural heritage for learners of Kenjgewin Teg. The Operations Manager is the heart of the Foundation’s daily operations, with a genuine passion for the Foundation’s mission and vision. The Operations Manager will be committed to ethical and responsible practices, centred on a worldview that supports Anishinabek-led education for learners. This operational leadership position will ensure that the Foundation’s charitable purposes are met, that growth is planned, and that donor resources are used effectively to maximize gift impact by fostering a culture of efficiency, delivering program support effectively, and strengthening the Foundation’s ability to create lasting and sustainable change.
The Operations Manager is responsible for both start-up and ongoing operational and board governance activities of the charitable organization. This position will implement effective operations in administration, finance and human resources for the organization and will work collaboratively and liaise with the President of Kenjgewin Teg. The Operations Manager will work in collaboration with the E’gaanjidaget (champion and external leader of the Foundation) and the President of Kenjgewin Teg to provide operational leadership. This position reports to the Board of Directors of the Waawaaskonenh Foundation.
This position’s head office is located at 374A Hwy 551, M’Chigeeng First Nation. This position is a hybrid and/or remote work arrangement.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum undergraduate degree in Business Management/Administration or related field of study
Minimum of 5 years of experience in an administrative and management capacity
Proven experience in operations management, preferably in a nonprofit or charitable setting

Ability to multitask and meet multiple and /or unexpected deadlines in a demanding environment
Digital literacy and proficiency with office productivity tools (e.g., Microsoft Office environment) and familiarity with CRM or donor management systems
Knowledge of Anishinabek education sovereignty goals and objectives and their connected relationships to Anishinabek culture, Anishinaabemowin, principles and protocols for Learners
