DUTIES:
1. Conduct psychosocial assessments, identify client issues, formulate and carry out appropriate social work treatment plans in order to meet client needs.
2. Provide counselling interventions to clients and families faced with multi-faceted problems.
3. Facilitate and coordinate individual, group and/or family counselling services, often involving interdisciplinary teams.
4. Provide crisis counselling, mediation and conflict resolution strategies.
5. In conjunction with community partners, actively participate in community walk-in clinics.
6. Advocate for clients by coordinating the efforts of all internal and external parties to meet client and family psychosocial and instrumental needs such as housing, food, transportation, income support and financial management.
7. To make referrals to other services and agencies as required.
8. To participate in staff development, consultation and community education programs.
9. To participate in any pertinent hospital or community committees.
10. Keep up to date with relevant knowledge, research methods and techniques, through the reading of relevant literature, peer consultation and continuing education activities.
11. To assume any other functions associated
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Master’s Degree in social work is mandatory
• Registration with the College of Social Work
• Bilingualism is considered an asset.
• Minimum of two years experience in mental health counseling and psychotherapy working with adults’ social/mental health issues.
• A valid driver’s license.
