Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Developmental Therapist to join our team and work with children in the school system. The Developmental Therapy Clinical Supervisor will supervise the Developmental Therapist. The ideal candidate will have experience in early childhood development, and a passion for helping children with developmental delays, disabilities, and behavioral issues achieve their full potential. The Developmental Therapist will work closely with
teachers, educational assistants, parents, and other professionals to create and implement individualized therapy plans that support each child’s unique needs.
Responsibilities
 Conduct initial assessment (observational and formal) to identify student needs.
 Implement individualized intervention plans developed by the Developmental Therapy Clinical Supervisor.
 Provide one-on-one and group support to children and youth with developmental delays, disabilities, and behavioral
issues with an emphasis on classroom intervention.
 Utilize evidence-based practices and culturally appropriate strategies.
 Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to develop and implement effective intervention strategies.
 Incorporate parent/caregiver involvement to encourage follow-through and integration of developmental skills in all
aspects of the child’s daily life.
 Communicate regularly with families to provide updates and support.
 Monitor and document children’s progress toward therapy goals and adjust interventions as needed.
 Report to the Developmental Therapy Clinical Supervisor on the effectiveness of interventions and any issues that arise.
 Draft progress reports to parents, teachers, and school administrators.
 Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of intervention plans.
 Participate in one-on-one monthly supervision meetings.
 Stay current with developments in the field of developmental therapy and early childhood education.
 Attend professional development workshops and training sessions as required.
Qualifications
 Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Human Services, Social Work, Education, or a related field.
 Must be open to registering with the College of Social Workers as a Social Service Worker or eligible to apply.
 Previous experience working with children with developmental delays, disabilities, and behavioral issues, preferably in a school setting.
 Strong understanding of child development, developmental disabilities, and behavior management.
 Excellent assessment and diagnostic skills.
 Ability to develop and implement effective therapeutic plans.
 Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
 Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
 Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping children achieve their potential.
 Culturally sensitive and respectful of Indigenous values and traditions.
 Proactive and adaptable, with the ability to implement effective support strategies.
 Strong observational and reporting skills to track progress and outcomes.
 Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
 Ability to write and draft formal reports.
 Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
 Ability to work flexible hours and travel.
 Excellent organizational and time management skills.
 Valid Ontario Driver’s License and reliable vehicle.
 Clear CPIC and Vulnerable Sector Screen are required.
