Summary
The Wellness Facilitator will address addictions and mental health through an innovative approach in collaboration with various community programs as well as Natural Helpers/Knowledge Keepers. This will include and is not limited to a culturally appropriate community-based case management system which is inclusive of the First Nations Mental Wellness Continuum Framework. The Wellness Facilitator will be responsible for engaging the community in addressing Prescription
Drug Abuse and Harm Reduction. This highly motivated and energetic facilitator will ensure effective collaboration meets the needs of the participants.
Responsibilities
1. Promote individual and family empowerment for wellbeing;
2. Manage, deliver, supervise and coordinate with agencies high-quality, hands-on initiatives which promote resilience
and wellbeing through delivery of educational and prevention services to meet the community needs;
3. Provide micro-counselling and motivational interviewing as needed;
4. Engage community in organized initiatives and meaningful programming;
5. Develop and implement a communication strategy;
6. Coordinate an active community relations campaign;
7. Host regular sessions throughout the community as well as satellite communities to ensure awareness is achieved;
8. Coordinate and facilitate showcase of community members achievements;
9. Ensure that there is compliance with all reporting requirements.
Qualifications
o Degree / Diploma in one of the helping disciplines;
o Experience in developing and delivering programming;
o Experience in conflict resolution, life skills and motivational interviewing;
o Experience in working with Aboriginal populations;
o Experience in delivering culturally safe practices with a strong knowledge and appreciation of Indigenous Culture;
o Anishinaabemowin is an asset;
o Willing to obtain, ASIST Training and Mental Health First Aid Canada;
o A strong community development advocate.
