Ngwaagan Gamig Recovery Centre Inc has an opening for a Cook, on a Full-time, Contract basis.

Responsibilities:

  • Work under the direction of management, with minimal supervision
  • Prepare menu planning and meals according to the Canada Food Guide and accommodate for clients requiring a special diet
  • Prepare meals for client groups and as requested for Board meetings and community events/activities
  • Receive all food deliveries
  • Monitor and order supplies and inventory
  • Ensure all sanitation, major clean up, general equipment maintenance, and safety standards are adhered to
  • Acquire and maintain positive relationships with vendors
  • Provide activity reports to supervisors as required
  • Working the schedule and menu as developed that allows for meeting clients’ and organizations needs
  • Participate in quality assurance processes

Education and Experience:

  • Completion of diploma in Culinary Skills or related discipline
  • Experience working as a cook within a residential facility
  • Knowledge of Anishinaabe culture, language, and issues an asset
  • Knowledge of the services and programs within Ngwaagan Gamig Recovery Centre Inc
  • Must demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must demonstrate an ability to communicate well and to document the interactions accurately and appropriately
  • Strong planning, organizational and time management skills
  • Valid Class G and/or F Driver’s License
  • Must possess current certification in Safe Food Handling and First Aid
  • Must be willing to submit a current Drivers Abstract and a criminal reference check with a vulnerable sector screen (CPIC-VSC)
