Noront Steel (1981) Limited has an exciting Permanent Full-Time opportunity for a young, results-oriented Estimator. Reporting to the General Manager, the Estimator will provide key support for our management group. Focused on our company standards, the ideal candidate will work towards improving processes while serving internal and external clients and vendors. The successful candidate must be team driven yet be able to thrive working independently.
Responsibilities:
· Prepare complete, accurate and detailed steel bid package proposals.
· Able to review drawings and documentation to generate take offs, outsource purchased items and components, and complete bid summaries.
· Able to review the RFQ documents to understand the scope of work to prepare bid proposal.
· The ability to read construction drawings/specifications and perform take offs.
· A complete understanding of the shop dynamic and processes to prepare a cost-effective bid.
· Work with management in bid closing.
· The ability to work closely and cooperatively with co-workers, subcontractors/suppliers, architects, engineers, owners, general contractors and other business associates to help maintain a quality Standard that Noront Steel is known for.
· The ability to maintain documentation from Bid to project completion.
· To be accountable for own work and support your co-workers.
Qualifications:
· 5 years of directly related experience;
· Experience within the Steel Industry required;
· Diploma in Construction Engineering Technology considered an asset;
· A team player who is motivated and has strong attention to detail;
· Exceptional organizational and multi-tasking skills that are complemented by effective interpersonal, oral and written communication;
· Proficient in MS Office software;
· Adaptable and flexible with taking on new opportunities as assigned by Estimating Manager;
· AEC / DEP or Skilled Trade Certificate (Preferred).
Additional requirements including, but not limited to:
· Ability to demonstrate strong leadership, design, communication and technical knowledge of steel construction and fabrication.
· Ability to make sketches, drafts to demonstrate ideas to client, fabricators, or erectors.
· Ability to handle multiple bids while maintaining a high standard of quality.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
· Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
