Sheshegwaning First Nation

Sheshegwaning First Nation is seeking an Ontario Works Administrator who is responsible for providing all financial and administrative functions to ensure effective, efficient, and accurate financial and administrative operations in accordance with the Ontario Works directives and current legislation.

 

DUTIES

•         Ensure all reports for both client files and GWA Calculator are following applicable policies and legislation.

•         Submission of monthly and quarterly reporting requirements ensuring applicability of legislation and accurate of content, to INAC & MCSS, including TSF.

•         Develop local policy for Discretionary Benefits and Transitional Support Funds to maximize full usage of dollars to best accommodate OW clients.

•         Regularly conduct interviews with clients to collect all necessary participant information and documentation is following applicable privacy acts and legislation.

•         Handle client requests in a timely manner in accordance with directives, provincial regulations, and legislation

•         Ensure all reports and related files are accurate and up to date. Liaise with external agencies and stakeholders.

•         Monitor and verify the monthly client reporting requirements and ensure adherence to applicable policies and legislation, as well as ensure accuracy of content. 

•         Help clients apply for Employment Insurance (EI) and to the Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP).

•         Provide current information to clients related to available services including changes to existing services.

•         Ensure client information is accurate and up to date. Conduct Home visits with clients when required.

•         Inform clients about the Healthy Smile Program and the applicability of its services for their needs.

•         Schedule appointments on behalf of clients to outside service appointments, when required.

•         Prepare funding submissions for reimbursement. Provide Referral to Clients for other programs and services.

•         Monitor client’s monthly expenditure on bill payments and provide budget assistance if required.

•         Order and purchase appliances, beds, and other approved items for eligible clients. 

•         Conduct client interviews to process applications and monitor ongoing client eligibility for Ontario Works

•         Professional Development – attend ONWAA training assemblies, maintain a good working relationship with

organization, regularly complete required training to fulfil duties of Ontario Works Administrator.

•         Attend meetings as requested and report on information obtained.

·         Host workshops/community engagement sessions on Ontario Works and other programming to encourage participation with clients.

·         Building trust and relationships by engaging with community members.

·         Increasing support for Indigenous dependent adults to better access claims applications for settlement agreements for which they may be eligible.

·         Contribute to a harmonious team environment within the organization.

·         Performing other related duties as may be required and assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

•         Secondary School Diploma

•         Must have a valid “G” Class driver’s license

•         Demonstrated sensitivity to and knowledge to the First Nation cultural values and traditions

•         Must be able to work after hours and weekends as needed

•         Ability to deal effectively with difficult clients and conflicting situations

•         Ability to use good judgement in assessing difficult situations maintaining Confidentiality and professionalism

•         Ability to be consistent and display a positive/helpful attitude

•         Flexibility required to keep pace with an ever-changing environment

•         Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines

•         Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a member of a team

•         Must provide a clean Driver’s Abstract

•         Must undergo a criminal record check (CPIC), and vulnerable sector check annually and prior to employment

Location: Sheshegwaning First Nation, Administration Building

 

Salary Range: As per contribution agreement.
