Skilled Labourer-Housing Department

Qualifications:

• Secondary School graduate plus acceptable related work experience and or trade certificate in Carpentry preferred
• Experience and skills in multiple types of home repair maintenance and renovations work
• Experience working safely with power tools
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of building codes is an asset
• Working knowledge and experience in Indigenous culture and community life

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Complete repairs to Band owned housing units including minor repairs to plumbing and heating cooling systems as well as carpentry repairs as needed
• Perform other routine maintenance jobs such as painting and drywall repair
• Complete minor renovations projects as required subject to funding
• Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment make minor purchases as required and communicate with the Housing Director to ensure efficiencies
• Ensure proper PPE is always worn and safe working practices are always followed 
• Assist in maintaining a clean and safe work site
• Required to move furniture, equipment and supplies as needed 
• Other duties as assigned
