
Sheshegwaning First Nation
OBJECTIVES:
- To work in conjunction with other departments including outside organizations to pool resources, plan activities maximize and coordinate programming
- Design, coordinate and deliver culturally aware workshops, speakers, events that promote healthy families, cultural awareness, the wellbeing of infants, children including parenting, prenatal and post- partum care
- Provide referrals to counselling and support services in all areas including networking with Chil, Youth and Family Services and other agencies as required
- Develop and or acquire promotional materials and packages for community awareness and education in the family setting, including family violence, babies and child wellness
- Promote the participation of targeted age groups in the planned activities, functions and programs
- Identify and develop protocols between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal service provider, facilitate cooperation, networking, information sharing and resource coordinator to maximize services for the citizens of Sheshegwaning First Nation
- Develop and implement effective processes for client file management systems and or client services
- Manage annual funding request submissions for the areas of responsibility, including follow up program budget monitoring and client based questionnaires as required by the program guidelines
- Attend meetings as required and assigned within and outside of the community
- Other duties as required and assigned
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be sensitive to the unique needs of the citizens of Sheshegwaning First Nation and can deliver culturally based programs and services
- Must have a proficient level of communication skills, verbal, written and computer skills
- Must have a demonstrated ability for public speaking to facilitate presentations and workshops
- Must be capable of identifying needs and developing proposals for funding/support for programs and services
- Must possess excellent organizational and time management skills
- Must be willing to work flexible hours including evenings and weekend hours for client vased programs and services
- Working knowledge of traditional culture, language and traditions is an asset
- Training and workshops can be provided as necessary
- Must have or be capable of obtaining certification and CPR and First Aid and may be required to attend other appropriate training certification courses as required
- Must possess a current and valid drivers license and a dependable vehicle
