Qualifications:
- Secondary school graduation plus acceptable related experience
- Business course from a recognized learning program or two years related training and experience
- Excellent understanding of Microsoft applications
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to operate and maintain a variety of office machines, fax, photocopier, printer, postage meter, computer and scanner
- Ability to organize and prioritize a wide variety of assignments using independent judgement and minimal supervision
- Working knowledge and experience in Indigenous culture and community life
- Able to be flexible if overtime or evening work is required
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for performing complex administrative and office duties
- Work requires some knowledge of the policies, procedures and organization of an office environment
- Receives incoming telephone calls and directs them to the appropriate person, takes messages as required
- Greets visitors to the Band Office, determines their needs and directs them to the appropriate staff member
- Handles general information requests effectively, knowing which calls to refer to staff members
- Receives incoming mail, sorts and distributes mail, stamps and sends out mail
- Obtains staff travel itineraries and records activities/location on schedule board
- Assists staff in making travel arrangements and appointments
- Ensures that all files and correspondence is maintained in a sage and confidential way
- Records and types staff, Band Council meeting minutes
- Performs miscellaneous duties on behalf of the Band Executive Director
- Other related duties as required from time to time
