Required Qualifications:

  • Current Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification
  • Recent completion of Arrythmia Interpretation package
  • Completed Critical Care General Assessment package
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in a medical/surgical hospital unit

  • Effectively uses the Standards of Nursing Practice and the Nursing Process in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of the patient.
  • Compliant with legislation, organizational and departmental, regulations, standards and procedures related to occupational health and safety and IPAC best practices
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain successful working relationships; ability to meet and interact with people in a pleasant, professional, responsible and reassuring manner, both in person and on the telephone; tact, courtesy and alertness in public contacts.
  • Provide autonomous nursing care for stable patients with predictable outcomes, including performing vital signs, assessments, and preparing patients and rooms for examinations or procedures. Collaborate with RNs for patient care when needs exceed the RPN scope.
  • Respond to emergencies, assist in procedures, and apply medical directives with critical thinking and teamwork.
  • Assess health needs, discuss test results, answer questions on health promotion and disease prevention, and initiate referrals to support comprehensive care.
  • Ability to work in all assigned areas
  • Ability to work weekends and shift work
