Primary Duties and Responsibilities
– Repair and maintain highways, roads, and bridges to ensure they are safe and in good condition for drivers, using heavy equipment and other hand or power tools.
– Traffic control setup and removal in accordance with OTM Book 7
– Operate heavy equipment including but not limited to traffic control equipment, vac truck, boom truck, bucket truck, dump truck, excavator, loader.
– Work with concrete, asphalt, and steel. Including welding, cutting, and forming.
– Keeping accurate records of work performed and materials used.
– Be available for emergency rail repairs, end treatment repairs, fencing, and any other emergency work. Be available for emergency response rotations as needed for overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
– Must be comfortable working from heights in bucket trucks, scaffolding, and aerial platforms lifts.
Other duties as assigned by the Capital Works Foreman.
Education and Experience
– Minimum of three (3) years related work experience in bridge/road construction and maintenance (outdoor work -Preferred).
– Minimum valid G driver’s license required and a good driving record to drive company vehicle. DZ is preferred.
Ability to attain a valid Ontario Class DZ license is an asset.
– Successful completion of training in traffic control methods, first aid, transportation of dangerous goods, WHMIS and job-related aspects of Occupational Health.
