The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Lead Hand to join our team. This is a working field position that includes additional responsibility in guiding daily workflow, supporting safety compliance, and assisting with site coordination, while continuing to work alongside the crew.

Your Day-to-Day

Conduct daily safety meetings, when required, to ensure awareness and compliance with health and safety policies and project standards
Provide day-to-day guidance and support to field crew members while working alongside them in active job sites
Assist in coordinating daily job site activities to help ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule
Serve as the primary field contact in the absence of senior supervisors, reporting progress, site conditions, and any issues to management in a timely manner
Perform surveying tasks including but not limited to setting elevations, grades, and lines. Using surveying equipment and verifying site measurements and layouts prior to and during work
Safely operate all required equipment and tools
Maintain clean, organized equipment and work areas
Perform physical work including lifting (up to 50 lbs), bending, climbing, standing for prolonged periods of time, and working in varied conditions including inclement weather.
Work evenings and weekends as required
Work in accordance and ensure compliance with all internal, client and regulated health and safety policies, procedures and/or regulations, including wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Perform other related duties as required
You Are a Good Fit If You Have

Required:

Valid G Class Driver’s License
Minimum of one (1) year of experience working in the construction industry
Prior experience in a lead hand or supervisory role
Considered an Asset:

Prior experience in Civil Engineering or Surveying
Surface Miner Common Core certification
Skills & Abilities:

Ability to use basic tools and equipment (e.g. hand tools, power tools, etc.)
Ability to lead crews and an understanding of delegation and workflow
Strong communication skills with supervisors, coworkers, and customers
Ability to work as part of a team and a willingness to collaborate on various job duties.
Ability to adapt to changing job requirements and schedules
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Professional attitude and strong work ethic
