FTTH Installation Technician

FirstTel Communications is leading the charge in bringing high-speed fibre internet to communities across the region. As part of our Fibre to the Home (FTTH) initiative, we’re expanding our team of skilled technicians to help deliver reliable, cutting-edge connectivity to homes and businesses.
Position Overview
We are seeking motivated individuals to join our team as FTTH Installation Technicians. No prior fibre installation experience is required — we offer a comprehensive 6-week paid training program to equip you with the skills and certifications needed to succeed.
Training Program Highlights (6 Weeks)
• Week 1–2: Introduction to fibre optics, safety protocols, and basic tools.
• Week 3–4: Hands-on training in fibre splicing, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Week 5: Field shadowing with experienced technicians.
• Week 6: Independent installations under supervision and final assessment.
• Certification in industry-standard fibre installation practices upon completion.
Key Responsibilities
• Install and maintain FTTH infrastructure at residential and commercial locations.
• Perform fibre splicing, termination, and testing.
• Troubleshoot and resolve connectivity issues.
• Communicate effectively with customers and team members.
• Maintain accurate records of installations and service calls.
• Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid ‘G’ driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Comfortable working outdoors and in various weather conditions.
• Must provide a Criminal Reference Check and will be subject to the responsibilities of the position.
• Previous experience in telecommunications or electrical work is an asset but not required.
