SUMMARY:
Under the direct supervision of the Mino Bimaadiziwin Program Manager and the general supervision of school
Principals, and the Superintendent of Academics, the School Program Facilitator will plan and facilitate various activities
that promote physical activity, healthy eating and nutrition, positive personal development, and wellness; and to engage
and support elementary and primary school-aged children and families in our community.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop a workplan (schedule) of activities for the Before and After School Program for the academic school year in collaboration with appropriate staff.
• Develop, plan, coordinate community partners and deliver summer day camp activities for WBE students within target age group.
• Identify, acquire, and provide all supplies required for program delivery.
• Supervise children attending the program and promote safety and respect among participants (as needed).
• Ensure a friendly and supportive atmosphere is maintained by developing appropriate strategies to support children in managing their behaviour.
• Respond to the individual needs of children and establish stable and consistent relationships with each child and their family/caregivers.
• Perform all duties and other duties as required and maintain confidentiality with respect to all matters at WBE.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum Grade 12 Diploma (OSSD).
• Current First Aid and CPR Certification, or willingness to be certified.
• Knowledge and experience with leading children/youth activities.
• Ability to communicate effectively and objectively, both orally and in writing, with all levels of staff, the public and
program participants.
• Knowledge of Anishinabek culture, traditions, language, and experience working with First Nations students is an
asset.
• Provide a cover letter, resume, and 3 references.
• Current vulnerable sector screen (criminal background check).
