POSITION:  Teacher- Numeracy Instructional Coach (K to Grade 8)

SALARY:  According to WBE Salary Grid and Qualifications/Experience

Under the direct supervision of the Superintendent of Academics and general direction of the School Principals. The Wikwemikong Board of Education is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable educator to serve as a Numeracy Instructional Coach, supporting K–8 teachers at Pontiac School and the Junior School. This role is integral to improving student achievement in mathematics through job-embedded coaching, professional learning, and data informed instructional planning, all aligned with school improvement priorities and culturally relevant pedagogy.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 Support the implementation of the School Improvement Plan (SIP) by co-developing math-focused goals and action plans with educators and administrators.

 Provide individual and group coaching to K–8 teachers on high-impact instructional strategies for mathematics.

 Plan and deliver professional learning workshops on numeracy topics, including conceptual understanding, problem-solving, and assessment practices.

 Collaborate with Learning Resource Teacher (LRT), instructional staff, and principals to develop inclusive and differentiated numeracy programs aligned with UDL principles.

 Analyze student achievement data to guide instruction and identify intervention needs.

 Support educators in using formative assessment strategies and tiered supports to close learning gaps in mathematics.

 Partner with community members and Anishinaabe knowledge holders to embed culturally relevant mathematics learning opportunities.

 Promote inclusive, land-based, and real-world math connections to foster student engagement and success.

QUALIFICATIONS:

 Member in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT)

 Primary, Junior, and Intermediate qualifications with demonstrated experience teaching math in K–8 settings

 Strong knowledge of Universal Design for Learning, Differentiated Instruction, and assessment practices (for, as, of learning)

 Proficiency in analyzing student data to inform instruction

 Excellent communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills

 Technological proficiency, including effective use of AI and digital tools to support numeracy

 Math Specialist Qualification

 Familiarity with Anishinaabe culture, language, and ways of knowing
