Wiikwemkoong Housing Department
Summary:
Housing labourers HL will work under the direct supervision of the Crew Leader and will work collaboratively on residential construction and home repair projects. HL’s will assist with handling and installing building materials. HL’s often assist with installation of footings, ICF foundations, sub floors, framing, trusses, roofs, windows, doors, insulation, drywall, trim, painting and finishing.
Responsibilities:
- Follow all safety protocols and always wear appropriate personal protective equipment
- Work efficiently and collaboratively on new construction and house repair projects
- Communicate effectively with crew leaders and team members regarding construction processes or safety concerns
- Assist in maintaining construction sites, cleaning debris and removing hazards
- Operate basic hand and power tools under supervision
Qualifications:
Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including heavy lifting standing for long periods of time, and working outdoors in various weather conditions
Strong work ethic, punctual, and reliable
Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions
Basic understanding of math construction principles and operation of power tools is beneficial
Commitment to workplace safety and willingness to adhere to safety guidelines
Willing to attend training that becomes available i.e. working at heights
Reliable transportation for travelling to various job sites is preferred
