Information and Referral Specialist

Wiikwemkoong Child and Family Services is seeking 4 qualified individuals to fill the position of Information and Referral Specialist. Wiikwemkoong Unceded Territory (WUT) Child and Family Services oversees and advocates for child and family matters by following the principals and ethics of Wiikwemkoong’s Gchi Naaknigewin, Wiikwemkoong’s Children’s Bill of Rights and Wiikwemkoong Community Standards. This will ensure the services are culturally appropriate to support the community’s children and families in alignment with Anishnaabe values and practices.  The Information and Referral Specialist will report directly to the Team Supervisor – Screening Team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Serve as the first point of contact for families, responding to phone, email, and in-person inquiries with clear, accurate program information.
Complete intake and demographics forms, identify presenting needs, and initiate appropriate referrals aligned with program guidelines.
Track, document, and follow up on referrals while maintaining accurate, confidential client records in the caseworks system.
Collaborate with program teams and community partners to support seamless service coordination and positive working relationships.
Participate in team meetings, case discussions, and Screening Team updates to share insights and support coordinated service delivery.
Provide culturally safe services that respects Anishinaabe values, community protocols, and ongoing cultural learning. 

REQUIREMENTS

Post-secondary education in Social Services, Human Services, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience working with Indigenous children, youth, families and communities, with an understanding of Anishinaabe culture, values, and community dynamics.
Knowledge of child development, child welfare systems, and trauma-informed care.
Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
Knowledge of child and family services programs, community resources, and referral processes.
Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and work under pressure.
Proficiency in documentation and data entry; familiarity with case management systems is an asset.
Familiarity with local resources and services within Wiikwemkoong and surrounding area.
Valid driver’s license, and access to a reliable vehicle.

Salary: $83,851.00 Grade 8, Step 1                 Location: In-Office Wiikwemkoong
