Community Initiatives Coordinator
Wiikwemkoong Child and Family Services is seeking a strategic, community-focused leader to fill the position of Community Initiatives Coordinator. Wiikwemkoong Unceded Territory (WUT) Child and Family Services oversees and advocates for child and family matters by following the principals and ethics of Wiikwemkoong’s Gchi Naaknigewin, Wiikwemkoong’s Children’s Bill of Rights and Wiikwemkoong Community Standards. This will ensure the services are culturally appropriate to support the community’s children and families in alignment with Anishinaabe values and practices. The Community Initiatives Coordinator will report directly to the Director of Child and Family Services.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Plan, organize, and implement community initiatives in collaboration with community partners.
• Ensure programs align with primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention services for children, youth, families, and Elders.
• Identify resource needs and ensure effective allocation of financial and service resources.
• Monitor budgets, track expenditures, and support financial reporting in partnership with the Finance Department.
• Maintain accurate documentation of program activities, engagement, and outcomes using the Caseworks case management system.
• Prepare and submit monthly and quarterly reports on initiative progress and financial status.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with community partners, Finance department staff, and external stakeholders.
• Support culturally grounded programming that reflects Anishinaabe values, language, and community priorities.
• Ensure confidentiality, professionalism, and adherence to WUT policies and standards.
REQUIREMENTS
• University degree in Business Administration or Public Administration.
• Minimum 3 years of program management experience and 3 years working in an Aboriginal setting.
• Strong knowledge of Aboriginal social issues, community history, and Anishinaabe culture.
• Experience with financial management, proposal development, and government reporting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; public speaking experience required.
• Demonstrated leadership and strong organizational skills, self-driven and motivated.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to manage spreadsheets and budgets.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English; understanding of Anishinaabemowin required (fluency an asset).
• Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and ability to travel on and off reserve.
• Successful completion of a Criminal Reference Check.
Salary: $83,851 Grade 8, Step 1 Location: In-office Wiikwemkoong
