Surveillance Operator

We are seeking dedicated and responsible individuals to join our Video Surveillance Team in Wiikwemkoong. The primary role of this position is to ensure the safety and security of community members and property by monitoring and maintaining surveillance cameras strategically placed throughout the community. This role requires a keen eye, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to fostering a safe environment. Under this role you will report to the Security By-Law Enforcements Operations Manager.

Responsibilities:
• Monitor surveillance cameras in real-time to identify and respond to suspicious activity, potential threats, or security breaches.
• Operate and maintain all camera security systems, including troubleshooting technical issues and promptly reporting any malfunctions.
• Collaborate with local law enforcement agencies, community leaders, and other security personnel to address security concerns effectively.
• Document and report all security incidents, providing accurate and detailed information to the appropriate authorities.
• Conduct regular perimeter patrols to ensure cameras are functioning properly and positioned appropriately.
• Assist in the developing and implementing security protocols and procedures specific to the needs and cultural context of Wiikwemkoong.
• Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards when handling sensitive information captured by surveillance cameras.
• Provide friendly and respectful assistance to community members, answering questions and addressing concerns related to camera security.
• Be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent; additional security-related certifications or training is an asset.
• Proven experience in security surveillance, preferably in a community-based or culturally diverse setting.
• Strong knowledge and understanding of camera security systems, including operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Excellent observation skills, with the ability to quickly identify and assess potential security risks.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with community members, law enforcement, and other stakeholders.
• Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and respect for indigenous traditions and customs.
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure.
• Proficient computer skills, including the ability to operate surveillance software and generate detailed reports.

Salary: $59,919.00
