Under general supervision, performs preventative maintenance services and inspects, diagnoses, and repairs vehicles and equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities / Tâches et responsabilités essentielles:

  • Works under limited supervision and follows written instructions and established procedures to complete assigned tasks.
  • Performs repairs and preventative maintenance services on vehicles and equipment.
  • Inspects, diagnoses, and repairs electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on vehicles and equipment.
  • Utilizes vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes and initiate or assign repairs.
  • Estimates time and material costs for vehicle repairs and requisitions new parts.
  • Completes all work within Standard Repair Times (SRTs).
  • Responds to emergency breakdowns and performs service calls.
  • Conducts safety checks on vehicles to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Completes required paperwork using fleet maintenance software for documenting repairs, parts usage, and repair times.
  • Assists senior mechanics with project work and complex repairs.
  • Reviews and completes or assigns repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs).
  • Maintains a clean and safe work area in compliance with Corporate and OH&S standards and performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.

Qualifications / Qualifications:

  • Education: Registered Apprentice
  • Experience: Registered 3rd Year Apprentice
  • Licenses: Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada
  • Ability to perform physical tasks with or without reasonable accommodations
  • Must successfully complete and pass pre-employment drug screening and physical
