JOB TITLE: Social Development Manager

LOCATION: Zhiibaahaasing First Nation

REPORTS TO: Band Manager

TERM: Full-Time(1), Permanent upon Successful completion of probation

SALARY RANGE: $44.07 to $47.63/hr

POSITION OBJECTIVE

The Social Development Manager provides overall leadership, direction and support for the planning, funding, negotiations, development, delivery, financial management, and administration of Zhiibaahaasing First Nations Social Development programs and departments.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

● Demonstrated ability to work constructively and cooperatively in a team setting

● Ability to maintain confidentiality

● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

● Must have knowledge of the Anishinaabe culture, tradition and customs

● Provide Crisis Intervention and support for families

● Prepare and maintain a procedure manual specific to the position with the inclusion of protocols (i.e. privacy and confidentiality, file management,..)

● Complete and submit monthly reports

● Ability to engage children, relate to use with warmth and understanding, non judgmental based approaches

● Ensures all staff follow safe work procedures

● Supports staff to manage their own self-care

● Manages employee performance and development including day-to-day coaching, performance planning and review, employee training and development, performance improvement plans and corrective action as required

● Provides leadership and support in the development and submission of proposals for funding

● Oversees the development and submission of financial reports to funding organizations as required

● Manages the financial affairs of the Department and reports on the financial performance

● Monitors, tracks and reconciles expenditures to approved budget(s); identifying variances and needs for planned revisions

● Monitors and approves expenditures to authorized budget

● Assist youth in developing life skills and assist in gaining access to community resources

● Monitor progress towards achievements of goals

● Work collaboratively with parents to develop and Implement Wellness plans that support parents and achieving goals and objectives that are concrete and attainable

● Establish a trusting relationship with that risk families

● Analyzing current processes to determine documentation requirements

● Outlines and establishes measures and procedures for handling, storing, safekeeping, and destroying classified records and documents, and for granting personnel or visitors access to classified material or entry into restricted areas

● Write various types of documentation, such as operational policies and procedures, forms, and reference guides

● Will develop public relations policies designed to improve Zhiibaahaasing’s image and relations with employees, stakeholders and the public

● Gather information through external research, internal interviews

● Conduct ongoing assessments of clients strengths/ weaknesses and progress towards case goals and meeting documentation on ongoing process

● Ability to multi-task and work with a high level of confidentiality, tact and discretion

● Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

● Completion of secondary school is required.

● Minimum of 4 years experience in the Social Work or related field

● First Aid Certification

● Knowledge of the Child and Family Services Act

● Must possess a valid G drivers license and have reliable transportation

● Current Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector check

● Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification

● Knowledge of First Nation concepts and procedures

● Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills

WORKING CONDITIONS

● Regular sitting, standing is required.

● Travel Required

● Weekend work may be required at times
