The On-Call/Casual Postal Clerk is responsible for the maintenance, operation and provision of postal services to the community of M’Chigeeng First Nation.
MAIN FUNCTIONS
- Sort and organize mail on a daily basis including delivery of ad mail
- Prepare and sort outgoing mail on a daily basis
- Record, card and process all specialized services such as priority post, expedited and registered mail
- Shipping processes – maintain accurate records, process orders
- Sale of products
- Maintain accurate daily and monthly records
- Maintain inventory for saleable products such as stamps, courier products, packaging products etc.
- Maintain weekly financial summary and prepare deposit
- Use and maintain postal meter, cash register, weigh station and money order
- Maintain all forms required by Canada Post
- Prepare daily reconciliation sheet for the cash register
- Record money orders sold and cancel stamps
- Weighs parcels and calculate sufficient postage
- Write up delivery cards for oversized parcels, envelopes and mailing requiring signature before release
- Responsible for locking all areas of the building
- Cleanliness of the facility for maintaining a safe public environment
QUALIFICATIONS
- OSSD or equivalent
- Valid First Aid or CPR Certificate (or willing to obtain)
- Police CRC will be required upon hire
OTHER
- Ability to operate computer and software as required to operate postal station
- Able to prioritize, meet deadlines and work under pressure
- Must understand machine applications such as postal meter, cash register, weight station, fax and photocopier and money order printer
- Must be able to handle complaints and refer to appropriate personnel
- Understanding and fluency in Ojibwe will be considered an asset, or a demonstrated willingness to learn
- Must have knowledge and/or experience with the language, culture, history and customs of the Anishnaabe people
