The Manitoulin Health Centre is looking for Casual PSWs to work at both its Little Current and Mindemoya hospital sites. Qualified applicants will have completed a Personal Support Worker certification.
The PSW assists and supports the nursing care process utilizing the knowledge, skills and abilities acquired in their PSW training.

Job Responsibilities Summary:
Personal Support Workers are governed under the Unregulated Care Providers (UCP) category as identified by the College of Nurses. The UCP assists and supports the nursing care process utilizing the knowledge, skills and abilities acquired in their PSW training. The UCP cannot perform controlled acts, triage, or assume primary care responsibility of a patient.
The UCP works under the direction of the Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) on duty and seeks understanding and clarity in the role and duties with the nurse.
The nurse may assign tasks to the UCP and the UCP may perform tasks under the following conditions:
The UCP is competent to perform the procedure/activity safely for the patient given the circumstances.
A nurse has been assigned responsibility for assessing health care needs on an ongoing basis, developing a plan of care, evaluating the patient’s condition, and judging the ongoing effectiveness of the intervention.
The UCP understands the extent of the responsibilities in performing the procedure, knows who to ask for assistance and knows how and when to report the procedure outcome.

Wages in accordance with the CUPE collective agreement
Earn great shift premiums: $2.26/hour evenings, $2.26/hour nights, $2.77/hour weekends
Part-Time staff are eligible to enroll in pension plan (HOOPP)
Part-Time staff are paid an additional 14% in lieu of benefits.
