Niijaansinaanik Child and Family Services

Reporting to the Prevention Services Supervisor, the Prevention Services Worker is responsible for providing
prevention services support to children, youth and families who are identified at risk. The Prevention Services
Worker will participate in case planning and wrap around service delivery to children, youth, and families. This
position functions as a member of the Circle of Care supporting children, youth, and families.
Salary: $57,576.00 to $70,050.00
Total Compensation includes: OMERS pension plan, comprehensive Health Benefits plan,
statutory and agency holidays, competitive vacation, Employee Assistance Program
Role Support Functions
• Providing a respectful, safe, culturally relevant environment that respects each child, youth, and adult as an
individual.
• Engaging with individuals in a way that empowers them to move towards a more holisticlifestyle.
• Advocating for all individuals’ needs for First Nation services, off-reserve services, and other local service providers.
• Working in collaboration with Niijaansinaanik staff through peer consultations and participating in Agency delivered
workshops that would help provide prevention services support to children, youth, andfamilies.
Qualifications
Minimum Education & Experience
• Child & Youth Worker or Social Services Diploma
• Two (2) years of direct experience in a Social Services Agency would be an asset.
Knowledge Requirements
• Respect for, sensitivity towards as well as knowledge and understanding of Anishinabek culture, traditions,
and the Seven Grandfather Teachings
• Basic knowledge of the Child, Youth and Family Services Act
• Knowledge of First Nation service delivery, customs, and traditions in responding to child welfare
• Knowledge of traditional practices, ceremonies, and teachings
• Knowledge of Niijaansinaanik Child and Family Services programs and services
Other Requirements
• Provide a clear Police Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Check
• Provide a Class ‘G’ Ontario Driver’s Licence, have access to a vehicle and ability totravel
• Have $1M auto insurance liability coverage
• Provide three-year uncertified Driver’s Abstract
