North Bay Indigenous Friendship Centre
STATUS: PERMANENT/FULL TIME (35 hours/week)
ACCOUNTABILITY: The FASD/Child Nutrition Community Support Worker will be responsible for servicing individuals who are suspected or already affected by FASD in the urban area of North Bay.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 2 years of education or work experience in the related field
- Formal training in the field of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder considered an asset.
- Experience working with individuals and families affected by FASD
- Experience working in mental health field
- Experience working with members of a multi-disciplinary team
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Able to advocate on behalf of clients and families
- Ability to work in collaboration with internal/external agencies, as well as with families.
- Knowledge of urban Indigenous issues and needs, and experience working with urban Indigenous individuals
- Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), Crisis Intervention Training certificates.
- CPR/First Aid certification or willing to attain within a certain timeframe
- Knowledge of the inner-workings of the local justice system
- Experience in facilitating programming from development to delivery
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, reporting databases, and related technology
- Excellent case and file management skills and oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work as a team member and independently
- Valid driver’s license with clean abstract, $2M liability insurance and access to reliable transportation
- CPIC/Vulnerable Sector check is required
- Ability to work flexible hours
