North Bay Indigenous Friendship Centre

STATUS: PERMANENT/FULL TIME (35 hours/week)

ACCOUNTABILITY: The FASD/Child Nutrition Community Support Worker will be responsible for servicing individuals who are suspected or already affected by FASD in the urban area of North Bay.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 2 years of education or work experience in the related field
  • Formal training in the field of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder considered an asset.
  • Experience working with individuals and families affected by FASD
  • Experience working in mental health field
  • Experience working with members of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Able to advocate on behalf of clients and families
  • Ability to work in collaboration with internal/external agencies, as well as with families.
  • Knowledge of urban Indigenous issues and needs, and experience working with urban Indigenous individuals
  • Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), Crisis Intervention Training certificates.
  • CPR/First Aid certification or willing to attain within a certain timeframe
  • Knowledge of the inner-workings of the local justice system
  • Experience in facilitating programming from development to delivery
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, reporting databases, and related technology
  • Excellent case and file management skills and oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work as a team member and independently
  • Valid driver’s license with clean abstract, $2M liability insurance and access to reliable transportation
  • CPIC/Vulnerable Sector check is required
  • Ability to work flexible hours
