Under the direct supervision of the Principal, and the general supervision of the Yaasgaabwitaaget (Systems Principal) and Kinoomaagewi Gimaa (Director of Education).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate Identification, Placement Review Committee meetings and case conferences
- Ensure referrals for assessments
- Establish accommodations for special needs students in the classroom
- Work with individual students for remedial work
- Provide regular staff developments in areas relating to special education
- Perform individual assessments and develop individual education programs
- Establish parent contacts for special needs students
- Ensure frequent consultation with parents regarding the progress of identified students
- Administer and analyze routine group assessments
- Provide direct support to teachers through program design, modification of teaching methods, provision of materials and regular supervision of progress of identified students
- Establish working relationship with the psychological educational associate and the speech and language pathologist
- Coordinate resource personnel for EQAO testing
- Plan transition of students into the next phase of learning
QUALIFICATIONS:

- Valid Ontario College of Teachers certification and QECO registration
- Additional Qualifications (AQ) in Special Education (minimum Part One completed), with willingness to obtain specialist designation
- Additional Qualifications (AQ) in Native as a Second Language and Guidance are considered assets w/ flexibility to adapt to teaching environment
- Knowledge and appreciation of Anishinabek Culture, Language, Traditions and History
- Provide a cover letter, resume, three recent work related references
- Provide a current CPIC with Vulnerable Sector Screening upon offer of employment
