POSITION: SERT (Special Education Resource Teacher)
LOCATION: Wiikwemkoong Pontiac School (2 Positions), Wiikwemkoong Junior School (1 Positions)
SALARY: According to WBE Salary Grid

Under the direct supervision of the Principal, and the general supervision of the Yaasgaabwitaaget (Systems Principal) and Kinoomaagewi Gimaa (Director of Education).

RESPONSIBILITIES:
 Coordinate Identification, Placement Review Committee meetings and case conferences.
 Ensure referrals for assessments.
 Establish accommodations for special needs students in the classroom.
 Work with individual students for remedial work. Provide regular staff developments in areas relating to special education.
 Perform individual assessments and develop individual education programs.
 Establish parent contacts for special need students.
 Ensure frequent consultation with parents regarding the progress of identified students.
 Administer and analyze routine group assessments.
 Provide direct support to teachers through program design, modification of teaching methods, provision of materials and regular supervision of progress of identified students.
 Establish working relationship with the psychological educational associate and the speech and
language pathologist.
 Coordinate resource personnel for EQAO testing.
 Plan transition of students into the next phase of learning.

QUALIFICATIONS:
 Valid Ontario College of Teachers certification and QECO registration.
 Additional Qualifications (AQ) in Special Education (minimum part one completed), with to obtain specialist.
 Additional Qualifications (AQ) in Native as a Second Language and Guidance are considered assets w/flexibility to adapt to teaching environment.
 Knowledge and appreciation of Anishinabek Culture, Traditions, Language, and History.
 Provide a cover letter, resume and 3 current work-related references.
 Provide current CPIC with Vulnerable Sector Screening upon offer of employment.
