Under the direct supervision of the Mino Bimaadiziwin Program Manager, and the general supervision of the Yaasgaabwitaagget (Systems Principal) and Kinomaagewi Gimaa (Director of Education).

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Discuss with students and parents concerns related to student’s attendance, determine any underlying causes for absence and make home visits as necessary
  • Work closely with appropriate school personnel regarding matters related to student attendance and to implement absence-mitigation strategies
  • Act as a liaison between the student, their families, school staff and administration
  • Recommend and facilitate student referrals to appropriate community agencies
  • Prepare all necessary attendance reports and coordinate attendance related contracts
  • Develop homework support for students
  • Support students that require an Alternative Education Plan for students that may be suspended or expelled and coordinate and participate in the development of at-home school programming when required

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Social Work with registration in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers, or Diploma/Degree in related discipline
  • Training in clinical interviewing and evidence-informed with children
  • Experience providing various treatment modalities to children  (ie: CBT, Motivational Interviewing, DBT strategies)
  • Knowledge and appreciation of Anishinabek Culture, Traditions, Language and History
  • Provide a cover letter, resume, 3 work related references 
  • Provide current CPIC with Vulnerable Sector Screening upon offer of employment
