Under the direct supervision of the Principal and the general supervision of the Yaasgaabwitaaget (Systems Principal) and Kinoomaagewi Gimaa (Director of Education).
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Implement any education program for their assigned students as developed by the classroom teacher, S.E.R.T. and or Principal. This is mainly associated with modified and accommodated work.
- To act as a mentor with any assigned children in the classroom and work with other children as needed.
- To work in a small group setting with students, as assigned by the Principal and classroom teacher
- To attend and participate in meetings and sessions where the need of any child they may have worked with are being discussed.
- To carry out all duties or changes made by the teacher, S.E.R.T. or principal to meet the needs of the children.
- Conference daily with the classroom teacher regarding observation of the children in the class and the children they have worked with.
- To work as a member of a team which includes other staff, parents and community.
- To share in the care and housekeeping tasks of the classroom.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Developmental Service Worker (DSW), Early Childhood Education (ECE) diploma or Native Classroom Assistant Program is considered an asset
- Knowledge of Discipline and Behavior Theories is considered an asset
- A strong interest and competency in meeting the needs of our children and classrooms
- Minimum Grade 12 OSSD
- Knowledge and appreciation of Anishinabek Culture, Traditions, Language and History
- Provide a cover letter, resume and 3 current work-related references
- Provide current CPIC with Vulnerable Sector Screening upon offer of employment
